As of May 25, 2018, the new European Union (EU) General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) has come into force. The new EU law directly replaces all country-specific data protection laws (e.g. in Germany the BDSG) as well as the EU Data Protection Directive (Directive 95/46/EC), on which the BDSG is based.
